Description
A MIG Welder (Gas Metal Arc Welder or GMAW) is a skilled professional responsible for using a specialized welding process to join metal
components. Their primary duties include operating MIG welding equipment, selecting appropriate welding parameters, and ensuring the quality
and integrity of welded joints. MIG Welders work in various industries, such as manufacturing, construction, and automotive, and are crucial
for creating strong and durable metal structures and products.
Duties
The qualifications standards for this position include being male, having the ability to communicate effectively in English, a minimum
educational requirement of high school graduation, a minimum of 2 years of prior work experience as a MIG/MAG Welder, and preferably having
experience in a shipyard. Candidates should possess experience in welding with various metal thicknesses, have a clean criminal record, and be
skilled in selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining metals to specifications. They should also be proficient in preparing metals and
work surfaces for safe assembly, accurately interpreting specifications and blueprints, providing training to welding apprentices, and regularly
cleaning and inspecting welding equipment and tools. Furthermore, candidates should be capable of diagnosing issues and performing
troubleshooting as necessary.
